Hello friends!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Sierra Laures. Just to let you know a little bit about myself, I was born and raised in Plano, Texas. I have three older brothers who make me tougher (most people pity me for this) but they in fact love, protect, and encourage me well. I love outdoorsy activities like playing sports outside with my friends. The last four years of my life have been dedicated to earning a degree at the University that the Lord has used to change my life… Texas A&M University. Gig em! 🙂
In my life, I have learned a lot about surrender and obedience to the Lord. Our God is bigger and better than my tiny human brain can imagine and I believe that He is not only worthy of my life, but that He can do much more with it than I ever could. This passion of mine and belief in our big God has led me here to this moment you’re reading about on this page, this decision to commit to The World Race, this excitement for what He will accomplish throughout this next year and beyond.
I’m honored that you’re here. I’m honored that you’re taking the time out of your day to read my words and learn about this opportunity. I’m honored that you’re considering partnering with me financially and through prayer. Thank you for being here. Thank you for being a part of my life and a part of the work of the kingdom with me.
Few things would get me to defer the job offer I put a lot of effort into and am very excited about… At the top of the list is being accepted to serve on the World Race! I leave on January 12th, 2021 with my team to begin living and serving overseas for 11 months (see ya in December of 2021, America!). The regions we will live and serve in are those in and surrounding:
Costa Rica
Thailand
India
eSwatini (formerly known as Swaziland)
We will be partnering with the local churches in each region to serve the needs of the local community. This will include building churches and schools, teaching English, sharing the Gospel, working with sex trafficking victims, orphans, and more.
With your help, we can accomplish these things and more.
I will face many challenges all throughout The World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. Like most other mission organizations, the World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to be fully funded, I need to raise $17,900. This money will cover all of the field expenses for the 11 months of the trip including transportation, food, and insurance. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider joining me at $100 monthly or some other amount?
The last thing I’d want is for my support raising to be transactional. You, yes, you, reading this sentence right now, you are a human with a heart and a life. I’d love to catch up, hear how you’re doing, and get to share my passion for why I am committing to this in a way that words on a page never could. This will also serve as an opportunity for me to answer any questions you may have and share about ways you can be praying for my team as we prepare for this next 11 months.
