Que Pasa (What’s up) my favorite people!?

We are serving in Mixco, Guatemala. We are living in San Lucas – a 30 min drive to Mixco and a 30 min drive in the other direction to Antigua, Guatemala. We know not to say ”Guat” for short, but to say “Guate“ because saying “Guat” would be like saying to us, ”Do you live in Amer?” Haha.

Here is a video that contains very important information! šŸ˜‰

So, if you watched the video, you know it was just for fun. Our lightheartedness is needed these days because our ministry is POWERFUL and can be very heavy on the heart and spirit – we are praying over people in their houses (made of sheets of metal), bringing them food, hearing their stories (involving a lot of death, drugs, addictions, gangs, heartache, health issues, poverty, etc), worshipping with them, inviting them to church, inviting them into relationship with the Lord, etc..

Alex, our ministry host is truly one of the most incredible forces for the Kingdom I’ve ever met, much less served under. He is passionate about bringing the Gospel to the “least of these” and lives this out DAILY. It is awe-inspiring and beautiful. He is also passionate about equipping us and making sure our spiritual walks are filled up so we can pour out to others out of an overflow. He has done this by training us to share the Gospel in Spanish and with different diagrams, as well as trainings in kids ministry that are so useful I know I will not just use them here in Guatemala, but for life.

I am truly, deeply honored to serve here with CASA Guatemala (the church Alex is building here in Mixco). Before even knowing where or with whom we’d specifically be placed, I prayed over my team’s time here in Guate, and the Lord impressed on my heart that our team would be “pulling down Heaven”. With this, He painted the picture of our team praying, worshipping, serving and interceding, and literally reaching up, grabbing Heaven, and pulling it down to earth with the people we’d be present with. The other part to this picture is, as we pull Heaven down, we’d be close to the Father’s ear, able to share our prayers RIGHT THERE, closely in communication with Him, and with prayer being a two-way street, when Heaven is pulled down like that, we are also extra close to hear from Him. Again, this was well before I knew where we’d be or what specific ministry we’d be a part of, and I can already say this has been true of our first week here. I am SO excited and expectant for more!

Yesterday morning, before our day of ministry began, a friend of mine from college texted me that he was praying for our team to be used for the kingdom. THAT DAY, we prayed with a family in their home and one of the women in the house GAVE HER LIFE TO CHRIST. Y’all’s prayers are POWERFUL. Please continue to pray. Heaven is being brought down, eyes are being opened to the Lord’s goodness, lives are being surrendered to Him, new hope is being found in Him in spaces hope is not all that common. He is MOVING.

Y’all are making Heaven come to earth. These stories of changed lives across the world are because of YOUR generosity, support, and prayers. We’re all in this together.

Until earth looks like Heaven! <3
