If the World Race was about me, I would go home content right now. I’ve had the most incredible team to serve alongside, the best ministry there is to work under, and I’ve loved the countries I’ve gotten to live in. If this was about what I could get out of it, I’d be content going home right now and enjoying summer in Texas with my family and friends - watermelon, grilled chicken salads, my own room and consistently warm showers are calling my name.

However, it’s not about me. There’s more people in need of the gospel overseas. I don’t even know which countries I’ll live in for the next 7 months. But I know the Lord has ordained my steps to lead me there just as He has with Texas A&M University, Costa Rica, Guatemala, etc.

This is our last week in Guatemala. Next stop is Honduras. You know what’s really cool?? I was PUMPED about the original route set before me for the World Race (ya know, the pre-COVID one). It had 11 countries scattered throughout Central and South America as well as Asia. Guatemala was not on that list of original countries. Guatemala and the ministry here has captured my heart - I believe in the movement of the Gospel here so much that I will be financially and prayerfully supporting this ministry for the rest of my life. I know, that’s a big statement. I mean it.

The Lord shook up the original plans of the World Race - from a set 11 countries in 11 months to living in Costa Rica for 6 weeks, Guatemala for 9 weeks, Honduras for 2 months, and only He knows what’s after that. Guatemala, in human terms, was not “supposed” to happen. Wow, am I thankful for the Lord’s will prevailing! Even when our human plans are good, maybe even great, His are better. Guatemala is proof of that for me. Take it as your own proof too!

My team is doing a secret fundraiser for our Pastor and our translator. We actually have an incredible amount raised so far - it’s so sweet to see others so excited about what is happening here and wanting to jump on board with the Kingdom being furthered in Guatemala. The money raised on their behalf could be used to cover the rent for the parking garage the church services are held in, the chairs for church, buying groceries to deliver for the family home visits, etc.

Our translator was only asked to be with us for the first two days here, but he was so passionate about this ministry and it was confirmed in prayer for him to quit his job and serve with us here full time. He has changed every single day of this ministry by translating for us - we are learning a ton of Spanish but we would be missing a lot without him and so would the people we minister to. If you would like to be a part of this secret fundraiser, you can Venmo me today at @sierra_laures and I will add it to the sum we are giving them tonight (our last night all together).

No matter what, please be praying for this ministry. It’s a ministry fighting to bring Heaven to earth and succeeding a heck of a lot of the time, in tangible and intangible ways. Please be praying for the advancement of the Gospel and the Kingdom of God here. It’s been an honor to play a part in the global Church here the past 2 months. This will surely be a hard goodbye, but I imagine I will be talking about this ministry the rest of my life :) I am happy to answer any questions!!

Love you guys!! Thank you for the prayers and support! TRULY means the world!!

Your girl,

Sierra :)
